Previous Tips Of The Week

Each week make sure you are calling the soap opera numbers we gave you! We have had numerous clients work on the soaps. We have also had clients read for day player roles and contract player roles. The soaps provide you with an excellent opportunity to build your demo reel as they are constantly casting new roles! If you need the numbers again, e-mail us and we can send them to you.If you would like to get started with your service and be submitted to the soap operas, call us! 310-921-6004

After you audition for a project, it is always a good idea to send the casting director one of your thank you postcards. You can thank them for the opportunity to audition and wish them good luck with their project. It is good business and that way your picture goes through their desk again! Postcards are also a great way to keep in contact with casting directors that you have already met.

Add a personal contact number on your resume. Even if you have representation (an agent or a manager), many casting directors like to contact you directly. They may not like your agent or they just prefer to deal with you directly. Do not put your personal number immediately under your agent’s number. It then looks like a personal number for your agent. Put your personal number immediately under your name and then add place your agent's number over to the left or right side of your resume. It is also important to have a local area code on your cell phone (818), (323), (213), (310). If you are insistent on keeping an area code that is outside of LA, you are probably missing out on auditions. If you would like to get started with our service and need a sample resume, please call us 310-921-6004

When you go to an audition:
1) Always arrive early!
2) Never sign in immediately. Take your time. Relax and go over the sides. Make sure you are comfortable and ready to audition before you sign-in. If they did not give you the sides ahead of time, this is even a more crucial point. If you sign in immediately they may take you immediately!
3) Bring at least 2 copies of your headshot. They may have a copy of your headshot and they may not. Nothing looks more unprofessional than showing up late and without a headshot.

In the section listed "Special Skills" on your resume, the most marketable skill we see in the casting notices are dialects and accents. The most called for accents and dialects are: British, New York and Southern. When you are designing your resume list your dialects and accents first. When a casting notice calls for a specific accent or dialect, we like to highlight that specific skill on our clients resume. Do not just list "dialects and accents". List the specific ones you are capable of performing. If you would like to get started with our service and need a sample resume, please call us 310-921-6004

Make sure you have a cell phone and answer it as much as possible. We have had numerous clients miss auditions and jobs because they did not return the casting director's voice mail promptly. Also, many times the casting director may be casting a project immediately and does not have time to leave a message. They will simply move on to the next actor that they are able to easily contact.

When you decide to shoot new headshots, make sure you MEET with at least two different photographers. Even though a certain photographer is recommended to be one of the best in the city, this does not mean he is the best photographer for you. There might not be any chemistry between the two of you and that lack of chemistry will show definitely in your headshots. We recommend you do your homework and meet with different photographers to make sure you feel comfortable with your headshot session.
